Shopify Plus pricing UK: what Shopify Plus really costs in 2026

Shopify Plus pricing UK

Shopify Plus costs from £1,800 a month in the UK on a three year term, or £1,950 a month on a one year term, before card fees, apps and any agency work. That headline is the easy part. What a Plus store really costs depends on your payment mix, how many stores and retail locations you run, the apps you keep and the build behind it. This guide sets out Shopify’s published UK pricing, what the licence includes, the payment fees compared with Advanced, the revenue at which Plus starts paying for itself, and the other costs to budget for. Every Shopify figure here comes from Shopify’s own UK pricing pages, and we say where Shopify does not publish a number.

The short answerShopify Plus starts at £1,800 a month on a three year term and £1,950 a month on a one year term. More complex, higher volume businesses move to a variable platform fee based on revenue, which Shopify quotes through its sales team rather than publishing. UK online card rates through Shopify Payments start at 1.3% + 25p, against 1.5% + 25p on Advanced, and the fee for using a third party payment provider drops to 0.2%. Your main store and nine expansion stores are included, with further stores at £250 a month each. On card fees alone, Plus only pays for itself at around £728,000 a month in online card sales, so most brands move for the features, not the savings.

How much does Shopify Plus cost per month?

Shopify publishes two starting prices for Plus in the UK. Both are monthly fees, billed in pounds:

Figures checked against shopify.com/uk/pricing and shopify.com/uk/plus/pricing on 2 October 2026.
Term Monthly platform fee Per year
Three year term £1,800 a month £21,600
One year term £1,950 a month £23,400
Variable platform fee Quoted by Shopify Based on revenue and business model

The three year term saves £150 a month, which is £1,800 a year or £5,400 across the term, in return for a longer commitment. Shopify describes the fixed fee as covering standard setups and integrations. More complex, higher volume businesses switch to a variable platform fee based on their revenue and business model. Shopify does not publish the rate or the threshold for its UK pricing, so treat any percentage you see quoted online as indicative, and get the figure for your business from Shopify’s sales team before you sign.

For comparison, the standard UK plans are £25, £65 and £344 a month for Basic, Grow and Advanced when paid monthly, or £19, £49 and £259 a month when paid yearly. The jump from Advanced to Plus is the biggest step in Shopify’s pricing by some distance, which is why the decision deserves more than a glance at the headline fee.

What the Shopify Plus fee includes

Everything in Advanced is included, plus the features that only exist on Plus. From Shopify’s UK pricing pages, the main ones are:

  • Customisable checkout. Checkout extensions through the information, shipping and payment steps, plus custom Shopify Functions for checkout, payment and delivery logic. Standard plans can only customise the checkout in limited ways.
  • B2B on Shopify with unlimited catalogues. Standard plans now include B2B with up to three catalogues. Plus removes that limit for company specific pricing and ranges.
  • Expansion stores. Your main store plus nine expansion stores are included in the platform fee. Further stores cost £250 a month each, or a revenue share across all stores.
  • POS Pro for retail. Plus includes POS Pro for 20 locations, and up to 200 locations with Shopify Payments. On other plans POS Pro is £69 a month per location.
  • Unlimited staff accounts and 200 inventory locations, against 15 staff accounts and 10 locations on Advanced.
  • Automation and data tools. Shopify lists Shopify Functions, Shopify Markets, headless commerce support and ShopifyQL Notebooks among the Plus features.
  • Priority 24/7 phone support.

One contract covers one brand. Shopify says unlimited online stores are allowed per contract, but if you run several brands under the same company you need a separate Plus contract for each brand. That catches out groups who assume one licence covers the portfolio.

Shopify Plus card rates and transaction fees

The other half of the cost is payments. Shopify publishes UK rates for Shopify Payments on every plan. Here is how Plus compares with Advanced:

Figures checked against shopify.com/uk/pricing and shopify.com/uk/plus/pricing on 2 October 2026. Shopify notes that card rates vary by country.
Fee (UK, Shopify Payments) Advanced Shopify Plus
Online standard cards 1.5% + 25p 1.3% + 25p
Online Amex 2.5% + 25p 2.3% + 25p
Online international cards 2.5% + 25p 2.3% + 25p
Klarna 4.99% + 30p 3.79% + 30p
In-person cards 1.5% + 0p 1.5% + 0p
Third party transaction fee 0.6% 0.2%

Two things matter here. First, the saving on most online card payments is 0.2 percentage points, and the fixed 25p is the same on both plans. Second, if you process payments through a provider other than Shopify Payments, Shopify charges a transaction fee on top of your provider’s own fees: 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus. Use Shopify Payments as your main gateway and the third party fee is waived.

On a £100 online order paid by a standard UK card through Shopify Payments, the fee is £1.55 on Plus and £1.75 on Advanced. That 20p difference is real, but it takes a lot of orders to cover a licence that costs over £1,400 a month more.

When does Shopify Plus pay for itself?

Comparing Plus on a three year term at £1,800 a month with Advanced paid monthly at £344, you pay £1,456 a month more for Plus. Divide that by the fee saving and you get the monthly sales at which the lower rates cover the higher licence:

So on payment fees alone, a UK brand taking card payments through Shopify Payments needs around £8.7 million a year in online card sales before Plus pays for itself. Two situations bring that point down a long way:

  • You run shops. POS Pro costs £69 a month per location on Advanced and is included for up to 20 locations on Plus. Ten shops on Advanced is £690 a month in POS Pro fees, and twenty is £1,380, which covers most of the gap on its own.
  • You use a third party gateway. The third party fee falls from 0.6% to 0.2%, doubling the saving and halving the break even point.

For everyone else, the conclusion is the same one we give on our Shopify fee calculator: below those figures you are buying Plus for what it does, not for what it saves. Run your own revenue, order count and payment mix through the calculator to see where you sit.

The other costs of running Shopify Plus

Shopify says there are no other platform costs, but that custom development work should be budgeted for, along with any theme you buy and the third party apps you need. In practice the total cost of a Plus store breaks down like this:

Cost Who sets it What drives it
Platform fee Shopify Term length, or revenue and complexity on the variable fee
Payment fees Shopify, or your payment provider Sales volume, card mix, Klarna and international orders, gateway choice
Extra stores and POS Shopify Stores beyond nine expansion stores, retail locations beyond 20
Apps App developers Subscriptions, reviews, search, loyalty, ERP connectors and anything Plus does not replace
Theme Theme developer or agency A bought theme is a one off cost; a custom theme is part of the build
Build or migration Your agency or in house team Design, integrations, data migration, B2B and international scope
Ongoing growth and support Your agency or in house team SEO, paid media, email, CRO and development retainers

Apps are where Plus can offset some of its own cost. Shopify says Plus is not meant to replace all of your apps, but it can replace many, particularly automation and customisation apps. Custom Shopify Functions and full checkout extensions, alongside Shopify Flow, cover work that stores often pay several apps to do, such as custom discount rules, delivery and payment logic, order tagging and fraud rules. Audit your app stack before you upgrade and list what each app costs and whether Plus makes it redundant.

Migration has no Shopify charge. Shopify’s own answer is that it does not charge you to migrate, that migration is your responsibility, and that costs depend on your business and your current platform. Moving from standard Shopify to Plus is mostly a contract change, with the work going into the features you upgraded for. Moving from Magento, Adobe Commerce or WooCommerce is a full replatform, covered in our Shopify Plus migration guide and our Adobe Commerce vs Shopify Plus comparison.

Is Shopify Plus worth the cost?

If the fee arithmetic does not justify Plus, the features have to. In our experience it is usually worth it when at least one of these is true:

  • You need to change the checkout itself. Custom payment and delivery rules, checkout extensions, or logic that standard plans cannot run.
  • You sell to trade and direct customers. More than three B2B catalogues, company accounts with their own pricing and terms, and both channels in one store.
  • You run more than one storefront or company. Expansion stores for separate regions or ranges, or multi-entity payouts to route each market’s sales to the right company.
  • You have a retail estate. POS Pro across many locations changes the sums, as the break even section shows.
  • Your team is outgrowing Advanced. More than 15 staff accounts, more than 10 inventory locations, or the need for priority support.

If none of those describe a problem you have today, Advanced is still the right home and the £17,000 or more a year you would save is better spent on growing the store. Our Shopify vs Shopify Plus guide covers the feature differences in more detail, and What is Shopify Plus? explains the platform from the start.

How to keep your Shopify Plus costs down

Choose the term deliberately. The three year term is £5,400 cheaper than three one year terms at today’s prices, but only worth it if you are confident Plus is right for the next three years.

Use Shopify Payments where you can. It waives the 0.2% third party fee and gives you Plus card rates. If you rely on another provider for some payment methods, include its fees in the comparison.

Cut apps before you add features. Replace apps with Flow, Functions and native B2B where they do the same job, and cancel the subscriptions on launch day rather than at the next review.

Ask about the variable fee early. If your revenue or structure may move you onto the variable platform fee, get Shopify’s figure in writing before you plan the budget around £1,800 a month.

Scope the build around the reason you upgraded. The licence is only one line in the budget. Paying for Plus and using it like Advanced is the most expensive outcome of all. Our Shopify Plus agency team scopes every project against the features that justify the upgrade, and our Shopify consultants can give an independent view on whether you need Plus at all.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Shopify Plus cost per month in the UK?

Shopify Plus starts at £1,800 a month on a three year term or £1,950 a month on a one year term. More complex, higher volume businesses move to a variable platform fee based on revenue, which Shopify quotes through its sales team. Card fees, apps and any agency work are on top.

What is the Shopify Plus variable platform fee?

Shopify says more complex, higher volume businesses switch from the fixed monthly fee to a variable platform fee based on their revenue and business model. Shopify does not publish the UK rate or threshold, so ask its sales team for the figure for your business before you budget.

What are the Shopify Plus transaction fees in the UK?

With Shopify Payments, UK online standard card rates on Plus start at 1.3% + 25p, with Amex and international cards at 2.3% + 25p and in-person cards at 1.5%. If you use a third party payment provider as your main gateway, Shopify adds a 0.2% transaction fee on top of your provider’s fees.

Is Shopify Plus cheaper than Shopify Advanced?

Only at high volume. Plus costs £1,456 a month more than Advanced paid monthly, and saves 0.2% on most online card payments, so it breaks even at around £728,000 a month in online card sales. Retail locations using POS Pro and third party gateways bring that point down.

How many stores do you get with Shopify Plus?

Your main store and nine expansion stores are included in the platform fee. Additional stores cost £250 a month each, or a revenue share across all stores. Each contract covers one brand, so separate brands need separate Plus contracts.

Does Shopify charge to migrate to Shopify Plus?

No. Shopify says it does not charge you to migrate, though migration is your responsibility and costs depend on your current platform and requirements. Upgrading from standard Shopify is mostly a contract change, while moving from Magento or WooCommerce is a full replatform.

How much does a Shopify Plus agency charge?

Agency fees vary with scope. At Rococo, Shopify and Shopify Plus builds and migrations start from £20,000, with heavily integrated, B2B or international projects going higher, and ongoing growth retainers start from £4,000 a month. Every project is scoped and priced as a fixed proposal after a growth audit.
