THE position

Most online stores lose organic sales to fixable, platform specific issues.

The goal is not just more traffic. The goal is better visibility that supports sales.

Duplicate content from product variants, thin or unoptimised category pages, faceted navigation eating crawl budget, slow themes and weak internal linking quietly cap growth.

Rococo fixes the foundations and builds visibility that compounds into revenue.

COMMON SEO BLOCKERS

eCommerce has its own set of SEO rules.

Generalist SEO advice often breaks on real stores. An experienced eCommerce SEO team handles variant duplication, faceted navigation, app and theme speed and thin category pages at scale, across thousands of SKUs, without breaking the store.

  • Variant URLs creating duplicate content at scale
  • Thin, auto generated category pages with no on page content
  • Faceted navigation eating crawl budget
  • App and theme bloat hurting Core Web Vitals
  • Limited URL control on products, categories and blogs
  • Structured data gaps on products, reviews and FAQs

Not just rankings. We work best with established stores that treat SEO as a serious growth channel and want a senior team accountable for organic sales, not screenshots of keyword positions.

Organic growth, in numbers.

Real client figures, tracked in GA4 and Search Console and reported against the same month the year before. ThreadBear Design, Mud Foods and Networks Centre, all named below.

Named results

Stores we have grown, with the numbers attached.

+437%

Organic traffic for ThreadBear Design, a handcrafted toy brand on Shopify, with ranked keywords up 312%, a 5.6% conversion rate and B2B orders up 139%. Product and collection SEO, then email and paid run from the same plan.

+171%

Organic traffic for Mud Foods, an award winning pie maker on a headless Shopify build, with a £1.43 paid conversion cost alongside it.

+383%

Ranked keywords for Networks Centre after four websites and 18,700 SKUs were consolidated into one B2B platform with every redirect mapped, and 72.4% engagement on the new site.

How we measure success

Organic revenue first, then non brand clicks, then rankings for the category and product terms that carry money. Sessions and impressions are reported but never used as the headline, because a store can double its traffic on blog posts and sell nothing. Every month you see organic revenue against the same month last year, the share of revenue that is organic versus paid, and the collection and product pages that moved.

Three things most eCommerce SEO agencies leave out
  • Organic Shopping and Merchant Center. Free product listings in Google’s Shopping tab depend on feed quality, structured data and product page content. We treat the feed as part of SEO, not a paid media job.
  • Digital PR that earns links to category pages. Our UK eCommerce statistics page is the model: original data that journalists cite, with the authority routed to the pages that sell. See link building and digital PR.
  • AI search visibility. ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews cite stores with clean product data, comparison content and consistent brand signals. The same work that ranks you in Google gets you cited there, and we track both.
Fit and pricing

Who this is for, who it is not, and what it costs.

A good fit
  • Shopify, Shopify Plus, WooCommerce or Magento stores turning over roughly £1m or more, or growing fast enough to get there
  • A catalogue with real categories to rank, not a single hero product
  • Paid traffic you want to depend on less, or a category a competitor currently owns organically
  • Someone on your side who can approve changes to the store, because we ship fixes rather than send recommendations
Not a good fit

Stores that need revenue this month, brands that cannot change the site, and anyone looking for a ranking guarantee. SEO takes three to six months to show meaningful movement and we would rather say that now. If you are choosing a platform first, start with Magento vs Shopify or Shopify vs WooCommerce.

How we work
  • Rolling monthly retainers. No long contract. A typical month covers category pages built or rewritten, product templates and structured data fixed, technical changes shipped into the theme by our own developers, one or two pieces of content that earn links, and a report on organic revenue.
  • Fixed fee audit and roadmap. A one off option if you want the plan without the retainer, or want to test us first. Yours to keep, and credited against your first month if you go on to a plan.
  • Who does the work. Jake Boase and Matthew Jones, the co-founders, run every account. Nothing is resold or outsourced, and SEO sits with the same team that builds and speeds up the store.

E-Commerce SEO FAQs

Our knowledgeable team of E-commerce SEO experts are always happy to help answer questions you may have. Below are a few common questions we are frequently asked.

What is an eCommerce SEO agency?

An eCommerce SEO agency is a specialist team that grows organic traffic and revenue for online stores. Unlike a generalist SEO company, an eCommerce SEO agency understands platform level detail across Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and BigCommerce, and knows how to optimise product pages, categories, faceted navigation and site speed at scale.

What do your eCommerce SEO services include?

Our eCommerce SEO services cover technical SEO, product and category page optimisation, site speed and Core Web Vitals, structured data and rich results, internal linking, content and topical authority, site migrations, international and hreflang, and monthly reporting tied to organic revenue. For a practical run through of the essentials, see our eCommerce SEO checklist.

How much does eCommerce SEO cost?

Ongoing eCommerce SEO growth partnerships start from £4,000 a month, scoped to the size of your store, competitive landscape and pace of execution. One off eCommerce SEO audit and roadmap projects are quoted separately.

Will SEO help reduce reliance on paid ads?

Yes. While PPC drives immediate traffic, e-commerce SEO creates a sustainable channel of organic sales, reducing long-term cost per acquisition. Many clients see SEO become their highest-ROI channel.

How long does eCommerce SEO take?

Most stores see meaningful movement in three to six months of consistent work, with compounding growth beyond that. Technical fixes and quick wins often land sooner, and content, authority and category rankings build steadily on top.

Which platforms do you cover?

Shopify and Shopify Plus, WooCommerce, Magento and Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce and headless builds. Each has its own SEO traps, from Shopify’s duplicate product URLs to Magento’s layered navigation, and we build on Shopify and WooCommerce as well as optimise them, so fixes get shipped rather than listed.

Do you offer an eCommerce SEO audit?

Yes. Every engagement starts with an eCommerce SEO audit covering technical health, product and category structure, on page optimisation, site speed, indexation, internal linking and content gaps, with a prioritised roadmap tied to organic revenue.

What is the difference between eCommerce SEO and regular SEO?

Scale and structure. A store has hundreds or thousands of near identical product pages, category pages that have to rank for the money terms, faceted navigation that can generate millions of crawlable URLs, and a platform that dictates the URL structure. Regular SEO optimises pages one at a time. eCommerce SEO fixes templates, taxonomy and feeds so every product inherits the right setup, and it is measured on organic revenue rather than traffic.

What results can I expect, and how do you forecast them?

We forecast from your own data, not a benchmark: current rankings and click through rates for the category terms that matter, the search volume behind them and your conversion rate by landing page. That gives a range for organic revenue at six and twelve months, which we revisit quarterly against actuals. Named results on this page, such as ThreadBear Design’s 437% organic traffic growth, show the shape of it, and we will say plainly if your market makes those numbers unlikely.

Do you require a long term contract?

No. Retainers start from £4,000 a month and roll monthly. SEO needs a fair run, usually three to six months before the numbers move meaningfully, but we would rather keep the account by producing results than by holding you to a term. Audits are fixed price with a defined scope.

Who actually does the work, and are they UK based?

Jake Boase and Matthew Jones, the co-founders, run every account from West Sussex, with our own developers making the changes on the store. Nothing is resold to a white label provider or outsourced offshore, which is more unusual among eCommerce SEO agencies than it should be.

Can SEO run alongside our PPC agency?

Yes, and it should. We share search term and conversion data both ways so paid covers terms you cannot yet rank for and organic takes over the ones you can, rather than both channels paying for the same clicks. Where we run both, the report shows revenue by channel so you can see the shift.

Do you write the product and category copy?

Yes. Category page copy, product descriptions at scale, buying guides and comparison content are written by us, in your brand voice, from a short tone workshop at the start. For very large catalogues we build templates and rules so descriptions are generated consistently rather than written one by one, then edit the pages that carry the most revenue by hand.

Can you handle a replatform or migration without losing rankings?

Yes. Migrations are planned by the same team: a full crawl and baseline, every indexed URL redirected one to one, templates and structured data rebuilt, and rankings monitored against the baseline for 90 days after launch. Our Shopify migration agency page covers the process and pricing.

Do you work with brands outside the UK?

Yes. We work with brands across the UK and internationally, including US brands expanding into the UK market, where the job is usually UK specific content, currency and delivery signals and hreflang so the UK store ranks here instead of the US site.

Can you work with our in house team or developer?

Yes. We either own the changes on the store or hand your developer a specified, prioritised ticket list and check the result. With an in house marketer we usually take the technical and category work and support the content plan, and we flex to how your team is set up.
