UK CONVERSION RATE OPTIMISATION AGENCY
CRO agency for Shopify and eCommerce stores ready to convert more.
We turn the traffic you already pay for into more revenue through research led conversion rate optimisation, A/B and price testing, and winning changes built straight into your Shopify or WooCommerce theme by our own developers. Programmes run on a rolling monthly basis.

THE position
You already pay for the traffic. Most of it does not convert.
SEO and paid media get people to your site. Conversion rate optimisation decides how many of them buy. CRO grows revenue from the visitors you already have, which is usually the cheapest and most compounding growth lever you own.
As a conversion rate optimisation agency, Rococo runs research led CRO tied to revenue, not opinion, not guesswork, not competitor mimicry.
WHAT WE DO
Conversion rate optimisation services, built around revenue.
Conversion research and audit
Quantitative and qualitative research across analytics, session, on site surveys and heuristic review to find the reasons visitors do not convert.
UX and heuristic analysis

Analytics and tracking setup
Clean GA4, server side and event tracking so every test decision is based on trustworthy revenue data, not broken measurement.

PLATFORMS AND FEEDS WE COVER

WHY MOST CRO FAILS
Most conversion rate optimisation programmes quietly stall.
The pattern is familiar. A handful of tests get run, results look promising on the surface, but revenue never really moves. That is almost always down to a few specific, avoidable mistakes.
- Guesswork and opinion led changes with no research behind them
- Tests measured on clicks or micro conversions, not revenue
- Copying competitor patterns without understanding your customers
- Underpowered tests called too early on tiny sample sizes
- Chasing vanity metrics like time on page or bounce rate
- Broken analytics feeding unreliable test decisions

Who is it for
eCommerce and DTC brands with real traffic who want more from the visitors they already have.
eCommerce CRO works best for established stores turning over £1m plus with enough traffic and transactions to test properly. If you are investing seriously in SEO, paid media or Google Shopping, a structured CRO programme compounds the return on every visitor you buy.
why rococo
Senior CRO consultants, not a testing factory.
Every CRO programme is led by a senior specialist who owns the research, the hypotheses, the tests and the outcome.

Senior CRO specialists
Never juniors learning on your traffic. Every programme is led by a senior CRO consultant with real store side experience.
Research led, not guesswork
Hypotheses come from analytics, session replay, surveys and heuristic review, not opinion.
Strategy tied to revenue
We optimise for conversion rate and revenue per visitor, the numbers that actually move the business.
Statistical rigour
Every A/B test is powered, monitored and evaluated properly. No calling tests early, no false positives.
Transparent reporting
Live dashboards, clear commentary and an honest view of what won, what lost and what we learned.
Built to compound
A structured experimentation programme that stacks winning tests month on month into serious revenue lift.
Process
How we run a CRO programme.
Research and audit
Analytics, session replay, on site research and heuristic review to find where and why visitors drop out.
Prioritise hypotheses
Hypotheses ranked by expected impact on revenue, confidence in the evidence and ease of test.
Test and iterate
Senior specialists design, build and run A/B tests, then iterate on winners and learn from losers.
Report on uplift
Monthly reporting focused on conversion rate uplift, revenue per visitor and cumulative programme impact.

Every test is tracked, attributed and reported transparently, measured on conversion rate and revenue per visitor rather than clicks.
Shopify CRO
CRO on Shopify is a different job from CRO on a custom build.
Most CRO agencies hand you a list of recommendations and leave the Shopify changes to someone else. We build on Shopify, so the test that wins gets shipped into the theme by the same team, usually the same week.
- Theme and Liquid changes, not overlays. Winning variants are built into the theme properly rather than left running in a testing tool’s JavaScript, which slows the store and breaks on the next theme update.
- Product page templates. Gallery order, variant selectors, price anchoring, delivery and returns messaging, reviews placement and sticky add to cart, tested per template rather than per product.
- Collection pages and search. Filters, sort defaults, product card content and the order of collections, which on most Shopify stores is where the biggest revenue per visitor gains sit.
- Checkout on Shopify Plus. Checkout UI extensions, trust and delivery messaging, and post purchase offers, tested inside the rules Shopify now sets for checkout customisation.
- Speed as a conversion lever. App scripts, unsized images and third party tags are usually the cheapest conversion gain on a Shopify store. We measure Core Web Vitals before and after every change.
- The tools we run. GA4 with clean eCommerce events, Microsoft Clarity and Hotjar for session recordings and heatmaps, Shoplift or Intelligems for A/B and price tests on Shopify, and Klaviyo data for post purchase behaviour.
- Price and offer testing. Free delivery thresholds, bundle pricing and discount presentation tested on revenue per visitor and margin, not just conversion rate.
- WooCommerce too. The same programme runs on WooCommerce stores, with changes built into the theme and checkout by our own developers. See everything we do for Shopify stores on our Shopify agency page.
Fit and approach
Is CRO the right lever for your store yet?
When a full testing programme makes sense
- Roughly 10,000 sessions a month or more, and a few hundred orders. That is enough to test big changes over a few months. Smaller tweaks need far more traffic, which is why we start with research and fixes.
- Paid or organic traffic you are already paying for, where a one point conversion lift is worth more than the retainer.
- A store you control. Theme access and a willingness to change the checkout, delivery rules or pricing when the data says so.
Below that traffic level we do not sell you split tests that will never reach significance. We run the research, fix what the recordings and analytics show, and measure before and after. ThreadBear Design’s Shopify store converts at 5.6% off the back of that kind of work, well above the UK eCommerce conversion rate benchmark. For the maths on how long a test takes at your traffic, see our guide to what a CRO agency does.
How we work
- CRO audit and research sprint. Fixed fee, three to four weeks: analytics review, recordings and heatmaps, heuristic review of every template, and a prioritised backlog with the revenue each item is worth.
- Ongoing programme, rolling monthly. Typically two to four live tests a month, with our developers building the winners into the theme, and a monthly report on conversion rate, revenue per visitor and margin.
- Who does it. Jake Boase and Matthew Jones, the co-founders, run every programme. Research, design, build and analysis all sit in one team in West Sussex, so nothing waits on a third party developer.

What a test looks like
Every experiment is written up before it runs.
1. Evidence
What the data shows. For example: a large share of product page visitors open the delivery accordion, and the recordings show those who do go on to convert at a far higher rate than those who do not.
2. Hypothesis and metric
If delivery cost and timing are shown above the add to cart button, add to cart rate will rise because the objection is answered before the decision. Primary metric: revenue per visitor. Guardrail: average order value.
3. Sample size and duration
Calculated before launch from the baseline rate and the smallest lift worth detecting. The test runs for whole weeks, never stopped early because one variant is ahead on a Tuesday.
4. Decision and build
Win, lose or flat, the result is written up with what we learned. Winners are built into the theme by our developers within the week. Losers still teach us what your customers do not care about.

CRO agency questions.
A CRO agency, or conversion rate optimisation agency, is a specialist team that grows revenue from the traffic your website already receives. A good CRO agency combines research, UX, analytics and A/B testing to turn more visitors into customers, rather than relying on opinion or guesswork.
Conversion rate optimisation involves quantitative and qualitative research, heuristic UX analysis, clean analytics and tracking, structured hypotheses, A/B and multivariate testing, and ongoing iteration. Every change is tied back to conversion rate and revenue per visitor, not surface level metrics.
CRO programmes with Rococo start from £4,000 a month, scoped to your traffic volume, platform, testing cadence and commercial goals. Standalone CRO audits and research sprints are quoted separately.
Early wins from research, tracking fixes and quick UX improvements often land within the first few weeks. Compounding gains from a structured A/B testing programme build over months as winning tests stack and inform the next round of hypotheses.
We run CRO across Shopify, Shopify Plus, WooCommerce and Magento, using GA4 for measurement alongside leading A/B testing, session replay and on site research tools. The same approach works on booking sites: simplifying the booking journey for Out of Bounds lifted online booking conversion by 311%. We work with your existing stack where it makes sense and recommend changes where it does not.
Yes. A/B testing and, where sample size allows, multivariate testing sit at the core of our CRO services. Every test is powered correctly, run to statistical significance and evaluated against conversion rate and revenue per visitor.
An ongoing programme starts from £4,000 a month and rolls month to month. That covers research, two to four live tests a month depending on traffic, our developers building the winners into the theme, and a monthly report on conversion rate, revenue per visitor and margin. A one off CRO audit and research sprint is a fixed fee over three to four weeks.
No. The programme rolls monthly. Tests need whole weeks to reach significance, so the first results usually land in month two, but you are not tied in while you wait for them. Audits and research sprints are fixed price with a defined scope.
As a rule of thumb, around 10,000 sessions a month and a few hundred orders. That is enough to test big changes, and even those take a few months to read. Smaller tweaks need far more traffic. Below that we do not run split tests that will never reach significance. We run the research, fix what the recordings and analytics show, and measure before and after.
A/B testing is one tool inside conversion rate optimisation. CRO is the whole process: analytics and tracking, session recordings, heatmaps, customer research, heuristic review, prioritising a backlog by expected revenue, and then testing where traffic allows and simply building where it does not. Agencies that only run tests skip the part that tells you what to test.
Wherever the data says the most revenue is leaking, which on Shopify stores is usually collection pages and product page templates before checkout. Homepage tests are popular and rarely the best use of traffic. We prioritise by the number of visitors affected, the size of the drop off and how cheaply the fix can be built.
Shoplift or Intelligems for theme and price tests on Shopify, with GA4 as the source of truth for revenue and Microsoft Clarity and Hotjar for recordings and heatmaps. We work with your existing stack where it is sound. Winning variants are built into the theme rather than left running in a testing tool’s script.
They should improve both, and we check. Every change is measured on Core Web Vitals before and after, testing scripts are removed once a test concludes, and template changes are reviewed by the same team that runs our Shopify SEO agency work so nothing removes content or internal links that rank.
Primary metric is revenue per visitor, with conversion rate, average order value and margin as guardrails, so a test that lifts conversion by discounting everything does not count as a win. Results are reported monthly against the baseline, and holdouts on larger changes show what would have happened without them.
Yes. We build on Shopify and WooCommerce, so winning tests are shipped into the theme by our own developers, usually within the week. That is the part most CRO agencies hand back to you as a list of recommendations.
Jake Boase and Matthew Jones, the co-founders, run every programme. Research, design, build and analysis all sit in one team in West Sussex, and CRO runs alongside our SEO, paid and Klaviyo work so a change on the store is judged on the whole funnel, not one channel.
