UK WooCommerce SEO agency

WooCommerce SEO agency for stores ready to rank and sell

Filter URLs, category pages, product schema and speed, fixed inside your WooCommerce store and judged on the organic revenue it adds.

Rococo is a UK WooCommerce SEO agency that also builds WooCommerce and WordPress sites. Our developers make the changes in your theme and plugins themselves, so the fixes reach the store instead of waiting in a report.

The position

WooCommerce gives you full control of your SEO. Most stores never take it.

SEO for WooCommerce starts with an advantage: WordPress lets you change every URL, template, title and line of copy. The defaults are where it goes wrong, and three problems hold back almost every WooCommerce store we audit.

  1. Filters that multiply your URLs

Attribute filters, product tags and archive pages are crawlable unless someone decides otherwise. Google spends its time on thousands of thin combinations and too little on the categories that sell.

  2. Plugins doing SEO jobs twice

An SEO plugin, a schema plugin, a reviews plugin and the theme can each output product data. The result is duplicate or conflicting structured data, and rich results that never appear.

  3. A self hosted store that loads slowly

Hosting, caching, cart scripts and plugins that load on every page decide your Core Web Vitals. On Shopify the platform carries some of that. On WooCommerce it is yours to fix.

Rococo fixes the foundations in your theme, plugins and hosting, then builds the category pages and content that turn that control into revenue.

The filter check

How many filter URLs is your store handing Google?

Every attribute filter on a WooCommerce category page can create a new address, and every combination of filters creates another. Put in your own catalogue and see how quickly the crawlable pages outnumber the pages you actually want ranked.

A handful of those combinations deserve to rank, such as a colour or material people search for. The rest should be kept out of the index so Google spends its time on your categories and products.

This is an upper limit, not a diagnosis. It assumes every combination is linked, and many filter plugins hide the empty ones. Search Console’s Pages report shows what Google has actually found, and it is the first thing we check in an audit. To put a value on the traffic itself, use the calculator on our eCommerce SEO page.

WooCommerce filter URL check

Filter URLs Google could find10,260
Pages you want ranked830

That is up to 12 filter URLs for every page you want ranked. Control the filters before anything else: choose the few combinations that deserve a landing page and keep the rest out of the index.

Services

WooCommerce SEO services, built around revenue.

Every engagement is shaped around your catalogue, your plugins and the searches that carry money. Most WooCommerce stores need four or five of these at the same time.

WooCommerce SEO audit

A full crawl, Search Console and GA4 baselines, a plugin and hosting review, and a roadmap ranked by expected organic revenue.

Filter, attribute and tag control

A clear rule for every filter, tag and archive: which become landing pages, which are canonicalised and which stay out of the index.

Category page SEO

Product category pages turned into landing pages with useful copy, clean headings and links, built to win the high intent terms.

Product and variation SEO

Titles, descriptions and images set at template level, with variable products built so one page can rank for every size and colour.

Product schema, done once

One clean Product, Offer, review and breadcrumb graph, with duplicate output from plugins and the theme switched off.

Speed and Core Web Vitals

Hosting, caching, image formats and plugin scripts tuned on the product and category templates that carry revenue.

Content on WordPress

Buying guides and comparisons published on the same site as the shop, linked to the categories they should support.

Migrations and redesigns

Redesigns, permalink changes and moves to or from WooCommerce planned URL by URL, so rankings survive the change.

Revenue reporting from WooCommerce

Organic orders and revenue pulled from WooCommerce and GA4 each month, by category, with the next fixes we plan to ship.

On WooCommerce

What we fix on WooCommerce stores, and how.

General SEO advice stops at the theme. A WooCommerce SEO expert has to know what the platform, the plugins and the hosting do to your pages. These are the four areas we work through on almost every store.

Filters, attributes and tags

  • A rule for every URL type. Filter parameters, product tag archives and attribute archives each get a decision: index, canonicalise or keep out.
  • Real pages for real demand. Where people search for a colour, material or brand within a category, that combination becomes a proper landing page with its own copy.
  • Clean internal links. Menus and filters stop linking to URLs you do not want crawled.

Plugins and structured data

  • One SEO plugin, set up properly. Yoast SEO, Rank Math or All in One SEO all work. Running two, or leaving one half configured, does not.
  • One Product graph. Price, availability, reviews and breadcrumbs output once, matching what the page shows, so rich results can appear.
  • Fewer plugins overall. We remove the ones that overlap and replace heavy ones with code where it makes sense.

Speed on a self hosted store

  • Hosting and caching first. Server response time, page and object caching, and a CDN decide how fast every page starts.
  • Scripts only where needed. Cart, slider and reviews scripts stop loading on pages that do not use them.
  • Images and templates. Modern image formats, correct sizes and lighter product templates for better LCP and CLS.

Stock, variations and URLs

  • Out of stock is not a 404. Products coming back stay live with alternatives shown. Discontinued ones redirect to the closest product or category.
  • Variable products that rank. Sizes and colours share one page, so that page is built to answer for all of them.
  • Permalinks left alone unless it pays. Changing the product or category base means redirecting every URL, so we only do it when the gain is clear.

Who does the work

A WooCommerce SEO company that builds WooCommerce stores.

Most SEO agencies send recommendations and wait for your developer. Here the SEO and the WordPress development sit in one team in Arundel, West Sussex, so the work that moves rankings reaches your store.

  • Our developers make the changes. Templates, schema, speed work and redirects go into a child theme or custom plugin from our side, tested on staging, with your approval.
  • We build on the platform we optimise. See our WooCommerce agency and WordPress development work.
  • Directors on every account. Jake Boase and Matthew Jones agree the plan for your store and stay on it, so the person on the call is the person making the decisions.
  • Search data shared with paid. Our Google Ads team sees which WooCommerce categories already rank, so budget moves to the terms you do not win yet.

“We finally feel confident in our SEO. Rococo deliver transparent reporting and results we can actually trust, no fluff, just growth.”

Fit

Who WooCommerce SEO works for, and who should not hire us yet.

WooCommerce SEO pays off for stores that can wait a quarter and can make changes to the site. This is who it suits, and who it does not.

This works if you have

  • A WooCommerce store turning over roughly £1m or more, or growing fast enough to get there.
  • Product categories people search for, rather than one hero product.
  • Ad spend you would like to cut back, or a category where a rival store holds the top organic spots.
  • Access we can work with: a WordPress admin login, a staging site or permission to create one, and someone who can approve changes.

Do not hire us yet if

  • You need revenue this month. SEO builds over quarters. For sales this month, paid search is quicker, and we run that as well.
  • Nobody can change the site. If a previous developer holds the only access, or the theme cannot be edited safely, sort that first.
  • You want a ranking guarantee. Nobody controls Google. A promise of position one is not worth paying for.
  • You are about to leave WooCommerce. Read Shopify vs WooCommerce, then talk to us about a Shopify migration that protects your rankings.

How we work

How a WooCommerce SEO engagement is set up.

  • A rolling monthly retainerCategory pages built or rewritten, filter rules, schema and speed fixed, changes shipped by our developers, content that earns links, and a report on organic revenue. No long contract.
  • A fixed fee WooCommerce SEO audit and roadmapThe plan without the retainer, or a way to test us first. You keep the roadmap, and the fee comes off your first month if you carry on with a plan.
  • Your developer, ours, or bothWe own the changes on the store, or hand your developer a specified, prioritised ticket list and check the result.

The timeline

3 to 6months before the numbers move meaningfully

Name

WooCommerce SEO agency questions.

The questions store owners ask us most before hiring a WooCommerce SEO agency. If yours is not here, ask it on the call.

What does a WooCommerce SEO agency do?

A WooCommerce SEO agency grows the organic sales of a store built on WordPress and WooCommerce. That means controlling filter and tag URLs, turning category pages into landing pages, setting up product schema and speed properly, publishing content that supports the categories, and reporting on the revenue organic search brings in. Rococo also makes the changes in the store itself, rather than handing over a list.

Is WooCommerce good for SEO?

Yes, when it is set up well. Because it runs on WordPress you control every URL, title, template and line of copy, and content and shop live on one domain. The catch is the defaults: filter, tag and archive URLs are crawlable, plugins can output duplicate schema, and speed depends on your hosting and plugins. Fix those and WooCommerce is as capable as any platform in search.

How much do WooCommerce SEO services cost?

Ongoing WooCommerce SEO retainers start from £4,000 a month, scoped to the size of your catalogue, how competitive your categories are and how much needs building. A one off WooCommerce SEO audit and roadmap is quoted separately at a fixed price.

How long does WooCommerce SEO take to work?

Most stores see meaningful movement in three to six months of consistent work. Filter, schema and speed fixes often show sooner, and category rankings and authority build steadily on top.

Do you offer a WooCommerce SEO audit?

Yes. Every engagement starts with one: a full crawl, Search Console and GA4 baselines, a review of plugins, schema and hosting, filter and indexation checks, category and content gaps, and a roadmap ranked by expected organic revenue. You can also buy it on its own at a fixed price, with the fee taken off your first month if you move to a retainer.

Should our filter and attribute pages be indexed?

Mostly not. Most filter combinations are thin copies of a category and should be canonicalised or kept out of the index. The exception is a combination people search for, such as a colour or material within a category, which deserves a proper landing page with its own copy. The filter check above shows how many combinations your catalogue can create.

Which SEO plugin should a WooCommerce store use?

Yoast SEO, Rank Math and All in One SEO all work well with WooCommerce. What matters is running one, configuring it properly and making sure it is not fighting the theme or another plugin over titles, canonicals and product schema. If your store already has one that works, we keep it.

How should we handle out of stock and discontinued products?

Products coming back into stock should stay live, marked as out of stock, with alternatives shown, because the page keeps its rankings. Products gone for good should redirect to the closest product or category rather than return a 404. Hiding out of stock items from the catalogue in WooCommerce settings does not remove their URLs, so it needs handling deliberately.

Can you speed up our WooCommerce store?

Yes. Speed on WooCommerce mostly comes down to hosting, caching, image formats and the plugins and scripts loading on each page. We measure Core Web Vitals on your product and category templates, fix what is slowing them, and test on staging before anything goes live.

Can you make the changes, or only recommend them?

We make them. Our developers build WooCommerce and WordPress sites, so template, schema, speed and redirect changes go into a child theme or custom plugin from our side, tested on staging and approved by you. If you have your own developer, we can hand them a specified, prioritised ticket list instead and check the result.

What access do you need to our store?

An administrator login for WordPress with your own named user, Search Console and GA4 access, and a staging site or permission to create one. For speed work we also need access to hosting or a contact at your host. Everything is done under accounts you own and can remove at any time.

How do we choose a WooCommerce SEO company?

Ask who makes the changes after the pitch, and whether they can work in WordPress and WooCommerce themselves or only recommend. Ask how they handle filters and product schema, what they report on, which should be organic revenue rather than rankings alone, and what results they can show with client names. A good WooCommerce SEO company will also tell you on the first call what it would fix first.

Can we hire you as a WooCommerce SEO consultant or expert instead?

Yes. If you have someone in house, we can work as a WooCommerce SEO consultant: a one off audit and roadmap, a fixed set of fixes built and handed over, or a monthly advisory call with your team. Some stores use us as their WooCommerce SEO expert alongside their own marketer, taking the technical and category work while they run content.

Should we move from WooCommerce to Shopify for better SEO?

Not for SEO alone. Neither platform ranks better by default, and a well run WooCommerce store can outrank a Shopify one. Move if the reasons are operational, such as hosting, maintenance or the apps you need, and plan the redirects carefully when you do. Our Shopify vs WooCommerce guide covers the decision, and we handle Shopify migrations with rankings protected.

Do you require a long term contract?

No. WooCommerce SEO retainers run month to month. Give it three to six months to show in the numbers, but we keep clients through results, not a notice period. The audit is a fixed price for a set scope.

Who works on our WooCommerce store, and are they in the UK?

Jake Boase and Matthew Jones, the co-founders, run every account from Arundel, West Sussex, with our own developers making the changes on the store. Nothing is resold to a white label provider or outsourced offshore.

Can WooCommerce SEO work with our existing PPC agency?

Yes, and it should. We swap search term and conversion data with them, so ads cover the WooCommerce terms you do not rank for yet and organic takes over the ones you do, instead of paying twice for the same clicks. Our eCommerce SEO page has a calculator that shows what those organic visits are worth at your numbers.
